WHAT IS DIAMOND MICRODERMABRASION?

A Microdermabrasion facial is a simple yet effective means of performing a deep suction clean and exfoliation of the skin to unclog pores and remove dull dead skin cells.

It will reveal new, healthy skin cells and leave your skin looking smoother and fresher than before.

To ensure the best results and avoid irritation, please refrain from using any active ingredients for 3 days before and after your facial. Active ingredients include benzoyl peroxide, retinol, salicylic acid, glycolic acid and vitamin C serum. We recommend using only a gentle cleanser and a gentle moisturiser during this period.

More information on the Dr Leah Clinic, Microdermabrasion Facial:

How does a microdermabrasion facial work?

A Microdermabrasion facial is a skin exfoliation treatment that smooths and removes the top outer layer of skin. It is performed using natural diamond-tipped wands that rotates to exfoliate the skin (similar to sand paper) with a suction action which hoovers up dead skin cells and unclogs pores. The microdermabrasion process also helps to encourage the production of collagen, which keeps skin firm and young-looking.

What makes rotational diamond microdermabrasion different?

The Dr Leah Clinic, diamond microdermabrasion treatment is the quickest, most comfortable dermabrasion procedure available. The wand uses modern diamond technology to exfoliate gently and effectively, unclogging pores and giving your skin a clean, fresh appearance.

Is microdermabrasion an alternative to anti-wrinkle injections and facial fillers?

Microdermabrasion is an exfoliating facial; it will not give the same results as anti-wrinkle injections or facial fillers. It may be the case that you require a more advanced treatment such as anti-wrinkle injections or dermal filler to achieve your goals; this can be discussed with your aesthetic therapist on the day of your treatment, who will advise.

What are the Microdermabrasion benefits?

The main benefit of microdermabrasion is to exfoliate the skin. In removing dead skin cells it can give an overall fresher appearance to the skin, unclogging pores and restoring a glow to the skin. Monthly treatments are recommended to reduce blackheads and blocked pores.

How many treatments will I need to see full microdermabrasion benefits?

You should notice some improvement straight away*, but we recommend regular microdermabrasion treatments (one every six weeks, lifelong) for full microdermabrasion benefits.

Are there any side effects?

Possible side effects from a microdermabrasion facial include skin irritation and redness. It is not advised if you have very dry or sensitive skin.

How much recovery time is required?

There is no recovery period after a microdermabrasion treatment, although your skin may appear red for several hours afterward.

What precautions should I take after a microdermabrasion facial?

• Do not apply makeup for 6 hours after treatment
• Do not apply heat or hot water to the treated area for 12 hours after treatment
• Sunscreen is necessary while in sunlight for 14 days following treatment, this can be purchased in clinic or online, we recommend on which does not clog pores
• Facial moisturiser is recommended to keep your skin hydrated as it can feel very dry after microdermabrasion. We stock a specific moisturiser that we recommend after microdermabrasion as it hydrates without blocking pores and allows the dead skin cells to continue to shed - you will be able to purchase this on the day of your treatment.

Is Microdermabrasion for acne a good treatment?

Microdermabrasion for acne scars can be good but we do not recommend microdermabrasion treatment if you have active acne as the process can spread the acne bacteria throughout the face, instead if you have breakouts we recommend the blue radiance peel which will help control breakouts.

Is microdermabrasion a good large pores treatment?

Yes, microdermabrasion will help keep unclog pores and reduce the blackheads. Regularly microdermabrasion is recommended for congested or oily skin types which are prone to blocked pores. For large pores the combination of medical skincare (obagi retinol 1% link to shop), microdermabrasion to unclog pores and dermapen to shrink permanently dilated large pores dermapen is recommended. If you are unsure which treatment you need or how to combine these treatments, please request a call back and one of our expert team will be happy to advise.

Which clinics provide the treatment?

We have a microdermabrasion London treatment and a microdermabrasion Essex treatment at our respective clinics. The microdermabrasion London treatment and the microdermabrasion Essex treatment uses the same diamond microdermabrasion technology. The result will be a beautifully soft, glowing complexion.

As there is little downtime with the treatment, our clients describe it as the best facial London and Essex. Clients can have a microdermabrasion London or Essex treatment in the morning and be ready to apply makeup to a smoother skin surface by the evening.
