Hip dips are inward curves that are sometimes seen just below the hips (midway between the femur and the hip bone). They are scientifically known as 'trochanteric depressions', but most people refer to them as 'hip dips' or 'violin hips'.
The visibility of these naturally-occurring indentations is highly variable; you might have very prominent hip dips, or you might not have any visible hip dips at all. Many women find them unappealing as they can detract from that highly sought-after 'hourglass' shape – and in some cases hip dips can be uneven, with one side more indented than the other.
Dr Leah Clinics offers a solution to those pesky hip dips: the Lanluma Bum Lift!
How do hip dip fillers work?
A hip dip filler treatment involves injecting dermal filler into the bum to give it a plumper and more rounded appearance. This is a safe, non-surgical procedure that has been used in aesthetic medicine for decades – and it's great for filling in hip dips!
Lanluma (the filler we tend to use for bum lifts and hip dip treatments) is also outstanding for collagen and elastin production, which in turn improves overall skin quality and elasticity.

Lanluma hip dip filler procedure: what to expect
- At your initial consultation, one of our expert cosmetic doctors will encourage you to discuss any concerns, and what results you aim to achieve. They will then assess the areas you are looking to treat and discuss what is possible.
- Once you have had a thorough bespoke consultation, you will then have numbing cream applied to the treatment area. During a Lanluma bum lift, you will also be administered injectable local anaesthesia to ensure that the treatment is as comfortable as possible. Once this has been injected, the treatment can commence.
- Lanluma filler is administered via cannula. This minimises the risk of complications and allows the Lanluma to be injected as precisely as possible, helping to achieve the desired results.
- Once the Lanluma hip dip filler has been injected, the treating doctors will then massage the filler into place, ensuring even distribution.
How many hip dip filler sessions will I need?
This depends on your desired results. Treatments range from 4 to 8 vials, which (depending on the amount) can be spread between up to 3 appointments. Your treating doctor will inform you how many vials are required for the results you're after.
When will I see results, and how long do they last?
Results are fully obvious 6 months after the initial procedure, once collagen and elasticity have been fully produced. You can expect the results to last for up to two years.
